Release: 3D Components 1.4.3 is out

Published by Grim Gjønnes

(19.09.2016) Ceetron 3D Components 1.4.3 has been released. The release includes a number of improvements and fixes, including updated ImportCAE file readers, new element-extracting queries to ElementsQuery, and View::regionClosestVertex() for finding the vertex closest to a front clipping plane.

3D Components is a development toolkit for 3D visualization of CAE data. It has been optimized for FEA and CFD models and results, and aims at software developers within CAE, science and engineering.  3D Components is used by leading  providers of solvers and simulators for the CAE community, including DNV GL, Transvalor, and Autodesk.

The release comes with the following improvements and fixes:
  • Updated ImportCAE file readers with new features and bug fixes
  • Added helper method to ug::DataElements that returns an element's index given its id using a simple linear search. Added DataElementSet::addItems(...).
  • Added helper method to ug::DataNodes that returns a node's index given its id using a simple linear search. The method will assert if no node ids are defined.
  • Added a query to ElementsQuery to gather all elements that contain a given node.
  • Added a query to ElementsQuery to gather all elements that contain an edge given by its two nodes.
  • Added label size query (in pixels) to MarkupPartLabels.
  • Reduced vertex count in display model by 33% (QUAD/HEX) to 56% (QUAD8/HEX20) for models with per element and per element results.
  • Added View::regionClosestVertex(). This will find the vertex (in world coordinates) closest to the front clipping plane within the given screen based region.
  • A number of minor improvements and bug fixes

For detailed specification of the above, see our release notes.
